Midnight Sun
______________________________
Alias: Midnight Sun
Type: Spirit
HP: 20
Appearance: REFERENCE (left)
Midnight Sun wears a Uniform in the standard of the Bureau - a white sleeveless ankle-length one-piece dress with a high, loose collar and low backline, ankle-length and slit to the thigh on the right side, with gold trim. Her collar appears more like a shawl, being translucent and featuring a gradient consisting of the colors of the aurora borealis. It's split in the front, held in place with her Bureau brooch and hanging to the waist, but one piece and floor-length in the back. She wears no shoes or gloves, but does have two pair of obsidian rings; one on each hand and foot, and a similar larger ring at the end of her braid. When transformed, Midnight Sun's eyes and tattoos glow an icy blue, as does the blue streak which appears in her bangs.
Transformation Trigger: A large veil, which she wears when out and about in civilian form. It was a gift from her grandmother and is best described as being the color of the clear night sky, with a few mysterious sparkly bits added in for good measure, of a sheer fabric and trimmed in midnight blue. It seems to disappear after Midnight Sun transforms, but is always present when she uses her Powers.
Weapon: Technically, her veil.
Power 1: Lux Borealis (buff, Shield OR Heal) - creates an aurora which can Shield a group of allies, or can be used on a single ally for Healing.
Power 2: False Dawn (energy attack, Light) - creates a Blue Flash which can Blind opponents, and will cause temporary hallucinations or confusion in those of a Dark element instead.
Signature Move: Invisible Ink (attack, Drain) - Midnight Sun's tattoos separate from her skin and attach themselves to an opponent, Draining their energy but also causing MS herself to detransform when the attack is complete.
About: Midnight Sun isn't much different as a Magical Girl than her civilian self, despite wardrobe appearances. The major difference is that she's much more proactive, especially in combat, and will usually be the first to throw up a shield in defense of her teammates. When it comes to defense plans, she's a very take-charge person. She uses her Powers in what looks like a series of stylized dance moves, and is much more graceful and controlled than she seems to be as a civilian.
Civilian Name: Silja Moller
Gender: Female
Appearance: Silja is a petite 5'5" not-tall, and looks 17 (she's actually around 19-20 by now). She has knee-length thick black hair, kept back in a braid that starts at her shoulderblades, with bangs swept across her forehead left to right and usually almost covering her right eye, medium brown skin, and gray-blue eyes. Numerous tattoos cover her entire body, from hands and feet up to her cheeks; all either appearing to be stylized animals or flowers, or unrecognizable creatures of some sort. Understandably Silja likes to keep these covered up, though by this time it's more habit than necessity - off duty she wears comfortable oversized sweaters and shirts and jeans or leggings, and is unaccountably partial to Uggs and similarly-styled boots all year round.
About: The tattoos started appearing around the same time Silja started high school...and shortly thereafter the gaps in her memory began. She and her family had no idea what was going on, until one of her siblings was assigned to keep watch on her and followed her out into the woods around their rural Alaska home one night. As it eventually turned out, she was a were-superhero and wandering about all night on some form of autopilot looking for evil to fight...or so they eventually tried to describe it to her. Silja seemed to have no control over her abilities, and never remembered what she'd been doing once she woke up the next day. She was terrified and yet a little fascinated, but neither she nor anyone in her immediate family could explain how, or why, this was happening. The nearest town was small, and they were understandably concerned about bringing Silja's condition to the attention of the authorities, but eventually (nobody ever revealed who or how) someone got in contact with the Bureau.
Silja - now 'professionally' Midnight Sun - was packed off to New York City right after graduation, and has been living at the Bureau for two years. She can now control her transformations and has a full understanding of her Powers, and has become a valuable asset to the teams in the field. She prefers to spend her time at 'home' in the office, however, and doesn't usually volunteer for missions unless her talents are specially needed. She rarely goes out, at least not alone, and is more comfortable around other Bureau employees than with civilian strangers - especially the new recruits. She tends to come across as shy and noncombative and often gets clumsy in awkward social situations, but is a generally nice person. She has an extensive collection of aromatherapy candles, nature-sound CDs, and other meditative or mind-calming paraphernalia, and her room in the dorms is a popular place to unwind and recover after a hard day.
While she cultivates only a small circle of friends and still prefers to watch other people participating in group activities rather than join right in herself, Silja does know how to have her own kind of fun. She often sends care packages and long letters back to her family, including any number of 'selfies'...usually silly ones. She particularly enjoys nighttime atmospheric phenomena and will never miss a meteor shower, eclipse or other event if she can help it; often she offers to host viewing groups for such things if others seem interested, and she's actually quite a fount of knowledge about them, seeming much more sure of herself and therefore talkative in the dark.
